On Tuesday evenings, at 8pm, the Big Bang provides some of the best Jazz, Soul and Blues in Oxford, helping promote local musicians and local food and drink. We provide a unique, candle lit, intimate setting for a wonderful evening of entertainment.

Frank Hockney Project
Drummer and percussionist Frank has played and recorded with a ‘who’s who’ of jazz and soul artists and recently he finished recording his own CD (Tempus Incognitum) which features a wealth of original material played by Martin Pickett (keys), Tim Wilson (sax) & Paul Jefferies (basses). Well known for his work with the James Taylor quartet and more recently for two of his own superb recordings, Nigel is much in demand as a performer in his own right and session player for a long list of top ‘jazzers’. We’re looking forward to hearing Nigel’s brilliant blues and jazz based licks played alongside the piano of Martin Picket and bass of Paul Jefferies.

Returning after a long break, AST are back with more delightful vocal-led jazz from Abi Strevens (vcls), Martin james (keys), Pete Dixon (gtr) & Paul Jefferies (bass). Abi – a gifted musician - has one of the most lyrical voices on the scene and the combination of piano, guitar and double bass give superb rhythmic support to make this a truly delightful band.

Jazz nights at the Big Bang are intended to bring opportunities to local musicians and our ticket price covers the cost of a standard main meal and the cost of paying musicians and investment in improving facilities.
Tickets for Jazz nights can be purchased on the night, although we urge advanced booking (use the form at the top of the page) and payment to ensure that you are able to get in to hear the music of your choice.
Subject to seat availability, we will admit non-diners, but a ticket charge of £10.00 will be levied in all cases and at least one drink must be purchased by holders of these tickets.
